Paston Ridings Primary school is part of the Spirit Federation. St John's Church School formed this federation with Winyates over 12 years ago, Barnack Primary school 5 years ago and most recently Paston Ridings Primary School joined - this federation has grown from strength to strength.

Together we are called Spirit, this name inspires us to have fortitude and tenacity. Paston Ridings Primary School is a school with an exciting spirit and one I encourage you to visit.

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming virtual Parents' Evenings—a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress, achievements and ask any questions you may have.

We'll be using SchoolCloud, an online system, making it easy for you to select your preferred appointment times with your child’s teacher.

Booking Details:

✅ Check your email from the school office which was sent yesterday with a link to the booking system

✅ Appointments open at 6pm today and will close at 8pm on Monday 17th March

✅ Session times are as follows:

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 3:20pm to 6:00pm
Year 3 and Year 4 3:30pm to 6:00pm
Year 5 and Year 6 3:40pm to 6:00pm.

Y5 have been involved in a STEM workshop today, learning all about gliders and how to make them aerodynamic and most importantly sustainable.

Children worked in pairs to design a sustainable aircraft and share innovative ideas. They also have a great chance to win some amazing prizes and certificates including tickets to an RAF show 🛩️✈️🛫

🎉 Our school choir were lucky enough to have an incredible experience with the @yvconcerts in Birmingham this week. It was a magical and exciting day filled with energy, amazing music, and unforgettable moments as they sang with over 5000 other children as part of the largest children's choir in the world.

🎼 The children had the opportunity to sing alongside Tommy Blaze from Strictly Come Dancing as well as MC Grammar. The entire choir was fantastic and a credit to Paston Ridings! Visit our school website (link in bio) to view the highlights!

Excitement is in the air and the joy of singing fills the bus as our talented school choir travels to Birmingham to take part in the incredible @yvconcerts concert! This unforgettable experience brings together thousands of children from across the country, uniting their voices in harmony for a truly spectacular performance.

We travelled by train and tube which was great fun. We visited Buckingham Palace and St James' Park before the highlight of the trip; a fascinating tour of the Houses of Parliament, where we got an inside look at how British democracy works. What an inspiring experience! 💡✨

🌟 As we reach the end of this term, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic few months at Paston Ridings. It has been a term filled with hard work and achievements.

Our children have shown dedication and enthusiasm in all aspects of school life. Whether in the classroom or out on the sports field, they have demonstrated a wonderful commitment to learning.

This term has been packed with exciting events and opportunities - our House Captains enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Houses of Parliament, Year 2 experienced the Great Fire of London show, and Year 5 had a memorable day immersing themselves in Greek life. We also celebrated Mental Health Week and National Storytelling Week, while our football and netball teams have been in action. These experiences not only enrich our children’s learning but also help to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

As we head into the half term holiday, I hope you have a restful and enjoyable time with your families. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term on Monday 24th February, for another exciting chapter at Paston Ridings! 🎉

We are aware of the hoax email that has been circulated to some schools, some of which are in Cambridgeshire. Peterborough Police have confirmed that similar emails have been reported across the country and that there is no specific threat to schools in our area.

In this week's Big Question, we explored Russ Cook's adventure running from South Africa to Tunisia in 352 days completing 10,190 miles (386 marathons).

This was a dream he had and through determination, grit and resilience it came true. We discussed whether dreams do have limits and there was a mixed response.

Yesterday, Chris Tawiah, a former professional basketball player, visited KS2 and spoke about his love for reading and passion for basketball. He was joined by Becky, who works for the @literacy_trust.

Our children have a fantastic opportunity to be part of a basketball session led by Chris. The KS2 with the most improved word count on Accelerated Reader will be the winners of that exciting session and there will also be a prize for the runners up!
