Paston Ridings Primary school is part of the Spirit Federation. St John's Church School formed this federation with Winyates over 12 years ago, Barnack Primary school 5 years ago and most recently Paston Ridings Primary School joined - this federation has grown from strength to strength.

Together we are called Spirit, this name inspires us to have fortitude and tenacity. Paston Ridings Primary School is a school with an exciting spirit and one I encourage you to visit.

In this week's Big Question, we explored Russ Cook's adventure running from South Africa to Tunisia in 352 days completing 10,190 miles (386 marathons).

This was a dream he had and through determination, grit and resilience it came true. We discussed whether dreams do have limits and there was a mixed response.

Yesterday, Chris Tawiah, a former professional basketball player, visited KS2 and spoke about his love for reading and passion for basketball. He was joined by Becky, who works for the @literacy_trust.

Our children have a fantastic opportunity to be part of a basketball session led by Chris. The KS2 with the most improved word count on Accelerated Reader will be the winners of that exciting session and there will also be a prize for the runners up!

📦 Year 4 Puffins worked with @amazonuk and the @literacy_trust to become ‘Amazon robots’ taking part in a fun book challenge where teams of children were tasked with organising book deliveries as quickly as they do at Amazon!

They had to search through and get to know a wide range of children’s books. They even had a chance to choose a book to take home and keep. 📖

Last Friday, our staff (with a little help from some younger helpers!) had a wonderful time decorating our Christmas trees. By Monday, the school had transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland for all to enjoy.

🎄 A Festive Adventure at Tallington Farm! 🎄

On Monday, we visited Tallington Farm to learn all about Christmas trees! Louise and her friendly farm dog, Gordon, gave us a warm welcome before guiding us through the tree-filled fields.

The children discovered how to tell a tree’s age, the types of trees grown, and tips for caring for them. Along the way, they spotted animal tracks and signs of wildlife, learning how to identify them.

Louise also shared expert advice on feeding birds—choosing the right seeds and keeping them safe from sneaky animals.

We wrapped up the day by planting new Christmas trees, bringing one back for Forest School, and another to decorate at school. what an incredible day of learning beyond the classroom! 🌟🌟
