During the Autumn term, Year 4 have begun delving into the Anglo-Saxons as their first History topic of the year. They had the exciting opportunity of an Anglo-Saxon visitor coming into school. Delving deeper into the Anglo-Saxons and their impact on ‘What Makes Us Who We Are’, allowed them to devise historically valid questions and deepen their understanding of the time period.
During this visit, the children became an Anglo-Saxon, explored jobs & family life, made flour from grain and a quern stone, as well as recreated the first Viking raid on the Anglo-Saxons, and more. It was a very exciting day!
