In Reception this term we have been exploring our Big Question: ‘How does adversity inspire courage and creative possibilities’.
We have begun to understand this question by looking at a variety of fiction and non-fiction characters/people. We discussed the adversity that they might’ve faced and how they showed courage to overcome this with the use of creativity.
In maths we have been exploring the stories of numbers 6, 7, and 8, looking at the composition of them. We have represented these with concrete resources and have introduced Hungarian frames. We discussed how we know it is 6, 7, and 8 using stem sentences. “I have 5 and a bit. 5 and 3 makes 8 altogether”.
In phonics we have been learning new diagraphs, trigraphs, double letters and tricky words. We have been using our new knowledge to help us in our reading practice and have been making great progress with this! We are so proud of how far everyone has come and we can’t wait to explore more creative possibilities in Spring 2!
