Sports Round-up
Another busy Half Term for PE at Paston and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Key Stage 1
Key stage 1 have been developing skills in football such as dribbling, ball control, shooting and passing. In gymnastics they have been learning different rolls, jumps, and balances, linking them into a sequence.
Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2 pupils have developed their knowledge & understanding of NFL Flag Football & Basketball. Pupils have made full use of the apparatus in gymnastics and how to adapt balances using the apparatus in interesting ways.
Mixed Football League
On Thursday 30th January, Paston played Barnack in Mixed Football. The team showed great resilience and determination making crucial decisions to prevent goals being scored. Although we lost 5-0 Paston continued to show our school values throughout the game.
On Thursday 6th February, the Mixed football team travelled to Discovery Primary School for an away match. The children showed great perseverance and were able to be patient waiting for the right time to score. It was a tough game and the score ended in a 7-1 loss. Well Done Paston!
Girls Football League
On Friday 24th January Paston played a league match against William Law. The girls were determined and played excellently showing brilliant teamwork and collaboration. It was a tough game and we drew 0-0. Well done girls! #PastonProud
Netball League
Paston secured another solid victory in their league match against Welland Primary. With every game that passes the team continue to grow from strength to strength.
Final score 12 - 1 to Paston.
Panathlon
On Monday 27th January Paston participated in the Primary Schools Panathlon Event at Jack Hunt School. The Pupils took part in a variety of new & exciting sports games during the event. All the children came back with huge smiles on their faces and a medal! #PastonProud
Athletics
On Tuesday 4th February Paston competed in the Y4 Primary Athletics Tournament at Nene Park Academy. Paston placed first in an individual event and placed overall as a school.
NFL Flag
This term the year 5’s have been learning about the NFL, within the NFL they have learnt all the skills in order to complete a game by the end of the term. The skills included are throwing, catching and learning SNAP. We now have a NFL Flag tournament coming up on the 13th of February which 12 lucky children will attend.
NFL Flag Tournament
On Thursday 13th February we competed at the NFL Regional Qualifier at the City of Peterborough Sports Club. Paston played against numerous other local schools in the tournament.. Every Paston player showed a great understanding of the NFL Flag rules and played incredibly well as a team. Unfortunately we didn’t win our group stage and missed out on making it through to the Regional Competition.
