Thrive
Mrs Osker Thrive Practitioner
“What does it take to develop healthy,
happy, confident children
who are ready and open to learning?”
Thrive is a therapeutic approach to help support children with their emotional and social development. Thrive promotes emotional and social growth by building positive relationships between a child and their peers and helps them to explore and understand their feelings through various activities.
Thrive practitioners are fully trained and qualified. Their aim is to remove any barriers to learning or wellbeing and to have happy, healthy pupils. Thrive support can be requested by parents if a child is going through a particularly difficult time in their life or if they have concerns about their child's mental health or emotional wellbeing.
Our Thrive assistants, Mrs Makansi and Miss Sayle will help children learn and understand their emotions and respect feelings of those around them. Some of the areas they may work on include:
-
Loss and bereavement
-
Parent separation
-
Support through serious illness
-

MY-CATS
reserach project
Our school is working with a team of researchers at the University of Oxford on a research project called MY-CATS. The MY-CATS team are testing out a new way of identifying and supporting young children who might benefit from help to build confidence and reduce the chance of problems with anxiety, now and in the future.
We are inviting all parents/carers of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes to take part. We would love it if all families in the participating classes got involved! As this project is to help reduce problems with fears and worries now and in the future, your child does not need to be experiencing difficulties with anxiety to take part.
We’ve attached more information about the project, and you can watch a short video about the project here:
You can also watch a longer, more detailed video about the project here:
If you would like to take part, please follow the link below to complete the consent form and provide your contact details.
You will then receive an email with a link to the screening questionnaires.
If the link above does not work, try copying the link below into your web browser:

Please complete the consent and screening questionnaires by 4th July. We ask one parent/carer to complete the consent and questionnaires for a child. If you have more than one child across the participating classes, you can complete the consent and screening questionnaires for each child.
